Pakistan Day Celeberations

 

 

Tokyo (March 25, 2013) – Pakistan Day was observed with enthusiasm and celebration in Japan. At the simple but dignified flag hoisting ceremony held at the Embassy, Ambassador Farukh Amil read out the messages of the President and Prime Minister.

Earlier a high reception had been held at Hotel Okura, the chief guest of which was the President of the Japan Pakistan Parliamentarians Friendship League (JPPFL) Mr. Seishiro Eto. Numerous dignitaries attended including Members of the Upper House, Parliamentary Vice Ministers for Foreign Affairs and Defence, other Parliamentarians, Chief of the Japanese Navy, Dean of Diplomatic Corps and key Ambassadors. Important personalities such as former Chief of UNHCR/ former President of JICA Mrs. Sadako Ogata, President of the Japan Foundation, the new Rector of the United Nations University were amongst members of civil society who came to share in Pakistan’s celebration.
 
From the media senior journalists from all leading electronic and print corporations attended including President of The Japan Times and President of Foreign Press Centre (former United Nations Under Secretary General). All major corporations undertaking business with Pakistan were represented at a senior level, including the President of YKK Corporation, President and CEO of Marubeni Corporation, CEO of APA Hotels and Resorts. All leaders of the Pakistani community associations were also present to celebrate the National Day. President of JPPFL reiterated his support and commitment for stronger Pakistan Japan relations. He said that the close and cordial relationship was demonstrated by the mutual assistance offered in the wake of natural disasters. This highlighted the solidarity between the Governments and peoples of the two countries.
