World Polio Day Symposium 2015 at the Diet ‘Japan’s challenge in the final push to eradicate polio’ Programme



Tokyo:  World Polio Day Symposium 2015 event was held at DIET (Parliament).  The multi- disciplinary team which included Ministers and Parliamentarians along with various UN agencies, JICA, civil society and the media recently visited Pakistan.  All the speakers praised the efforts, commitment and policy planning of Government of Pakistan, in particular the dedication of the frontline workers, the coordinated and organized community-based response, guided by Prime Minister’s Focal Person on Polio Eradication Senator Ms. Ayesha Raza Farooq and Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Mrs. Saira Afzal Tarar.


2.         Ambassador Farukh Amil in his interaction with the Ministers, Parliamentarians and the heads of various agencies reiterated the resolve of the Government of Pakistan in pursuing a well-coordinated, systematic response to the challenge.  He underlined that the Government of Pakistan appreciated the partnership of Japan in dealing with this issue.
