Tokyo (March 11, 2013) – A tourism promotion event was organized in the Embassy of Pakistan, Tokyo at the weekend. More than a hundred Japanese citizens belonging to different fields participated in this event. Ambassador Farukh Amil (فاروق عامل) welcomed the Japanese people to the Embassy calling on them to visit Pakistan. He said Pakistan was a tourist paradise with beautiful mountains, rivers and lakes including the lovely Hunza Valley the object of a recent major Japanese movie. He said that Pakistan had a rich heritage with major historical and cultural sites, sights and cities, such as Lahore, Peshawar, Multan, Taxila, Harappa and Mohenjodaro. He urged the Japanese to visit and explore the unspoilt beauty of Pakistan, to experience the warmth and friendliness of the Pakistan people, alongwith the rich cuisine.

Excellent relations between Pakistan and Japan over a period of six decades would be further strengthened through people-to-people contact. The Ambassador stressed that travel promoted understanding and knowledge of each others cultures. Pakistan and Japan had the Ghandhara heritage as an important civilizational link between the two countries, something thousands of Japanese visitors had experienced over the years. Pakistan, he said to the youthful audience, would welcome another generation of Japanese citizens eager to discover it.
