JSEZ seminar held at the Embassy

On Monday 26th August, 2013 a seminar was arranged by the Economic Wing with collaboration of DTS INC. at the Embassy Hall. The seminar was attended by more than 40 Japanese Companies including Marubeni, Sumitomo, Yamaha, YKK, Toa Corporation, Taisei Corporation besides JICA and Tokyo Chamber of Commerce.

 Ambassador Farukh Amil in his opening remarks described the immense opportunities for trade and investment in Pakistan, a country rich in natural resources with huge domestic and neighbouring markets. He said Pakistan highly valued those companies already operating there and encouraged new companies to experience for themselves the environment and business opportunities by visiting Pakistan. He stressed the importance of investing in energy and infrastructure.

 Minister Economic, Dr Talat Imtiaz presented Pakistan’s case within the context of the global economic trends and an assessment of the Japanese Economy. Political stability, the bed-rock of economic stability, was established by smooth transfer of power in Pakistan. She described the Pakistani Economy as fast improving under the strong corporate profile of the present Government and a youthful population. Pakistan as one of the N-11 countries occupied a very significant location, besides offering very robust opportunities for investing in energy, mining, infrastructure and IT& Telecommunication sectors. She invited all the business-men and women to bring their investment proposals for discussion and guidance from the Embassy Economic and Trade Team.

 Dr Takahashi the President of DTS INC. gave a detailed presentation on development of the Japan Special Economic Zone at Dhabeji and informed that development work was to begin later this year. He emphasized the investment opportunities, the real security situation and invited business men to join in the infrastructure development in the JSEZ.

 Mr Yamazaki, gave a presentation on new entrants in Pakistani market and shared his in depth market research experience in Pakistan with the participants.

 During the Q&A session the participants showed interest in the agriculture sector and wanted to know more about Pakistan and the security situation. The Embassy thanked the participants and welcomed them for future liaisons for business enhancements.
