Tokyo (July 26, 2013) – Ambassador Mr. Farukh Amil alongwith the senior economic team of the Embassy visited Yamaha Motor Company in Shizuoka to call on Yamaha President and CEO Mr. Hiroki Yanagi and other senior officers.

Yamaha has made an investment at Port Qasim Economic Zone, Karachi and plans to start production in 2015.  President Yamaha while discussing the matters of mutual interest appreciated the smooth transition from one democratic government to the next democratic government in Pakistan.  He said that the new Prime Minister being from private sector was a good omen for attracting more investment in the country because of his business friendly policies.  He said that Japan and Pakistan have been good friends and development partners.

The Ambassador underlined that Pakistan is a market of nearly 200 million people with a youthful population that preferred Japanese products because of their good quality standards.  He said both countries shared common Asian values of treating others with respect and dignity.  He urged Yamaha Motors that it should not only focus on the domestic market but also plan for exporting Pakistan-made products to neighbouring Central Asian, Middle East and African countries.  He also requested President Yamaha for training and internships in Japan for young Pakistani engineers and technical staff.
