Tokyo: Underlining the importance of the Government's investment policy, today the Embassy hosted a ceremony to appoint Mr. Masayuki Sarumaru, the President YKK Corporation as the Honorary Investment Counselor. The event was attended by representatives of the Foreign Ministry, METI, JICA, JETRO and leading Japanese business corporations.
Conveying the decision of the BOI/Prime Minister Office, the Ambassador stated that the Prime Minister had embarked on a major effort to revitalize Pakistan's economy, initiate financial reforms and create a positive investment climate along with strong incentives. This would prove to be attractive for developed countries such as Japan. Given YKK's decades old presence in Pakistan, it's standing in the global corporate world and the impeccable credentials of Mr. Sarumaru, the Ambassador said he was the perfect choice.
In his address Mr. Sarumaru said that Pakistan presented relatively good opportunities for investment and trade. He said that he would do his best to meet expectations and act as a bridge between Japanese companies and Pakistan.
