Seminar on "Pakistan Now A Promising Source Market for Japan” at Osaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry

OSAKA:  A Seminar on “PAKISTAN NOW~A Promising Sourcing Market For Japan” was held at Osaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry in collaboration with JICA, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and the Consulate of Pakistan, Osaka. A trade delegation comprising of leading Pakistani companies representing Textile, Food, Leather, Surgical Instruments and Sports Goods sectors also participated in the seminar. More than 90 Japanese companies hailing from the Kansai region attended the seminar. Mr. Sher Afghan, Director General, TDAP in his welcome address highlighted the potential of Pakistan as a sourcing market for Japanese entrepreneurs. He invited them to visit Pakistan during the forthcoming Expo Pakistan 2014 to explore the opportunities offered by Pakistan’s vibrant business community. He also appreciated the role of JICA and JETRO for the promotion of bilateral trade between Pakistan and Japan.

Mr. Shimizu JICA Consultant to TDAP while explaining the objectives of the seminar also introduced the booklet printed by JICA and TDAP for the Japanese importers. He explained the information compiled in the Booklet as easy-to-access reference for Pakistani exports.

Mr. Ehara Keiji, from JICA appreciated the efforts of the Consulate of Pakistan in the organization of the seminar and inviting Kansai based leading Japanese businessmen. He shared the activities of JICA in Pakistan for promotion of bilateral trade and investment.

Mr. Yoshiaki Kamiyama, Senior Researcher, Japan Textile Importers Association (JTIA) highlighted the potential of Pakistani textile industry. He underlined the competitive advantages of the Pakistani Textile sector.

Mr. Muhammad Naseer, Commercial Counsellor/Consul, Osaka spoke about Pakistan as a reliable sourcing market. He said Pakistan was an emerging economy of South Asia with a geostrategic location and its vibrant entrepreneurs. A country rich in natural and human resources had a lot to offer for Japanese importers. Pakistan can supply quality products at the most competitive rates for the Japanese consumers. He also spoke about the increasing trend in Japanese companies to buy directly from Pakistan.

Presentations made by the members of TDAP delegation highlighting their respective industry were highly appreciated by the participants of the Seminar.

The B2B meetings were organized at the end of the seminar along with the display of the products from Pakistan.
