Meeting with Governor of Ibaraki Prefecture

      Tokyo: Ambassador Farukh Amil called on Governor Masaru Hashimoto of Ibaraki Prefecture.   They discussed the matters of mutual interest including bilateral relations in their historical and politico-economic perspective. The Governor expressed his deep condolences for the victims of 2013 earthquake in Pakistan.  He briefed the Ambassador about distinguishing features of Ibaraki Prefecture including the world class Science City of Tsukuba and its famous university.  Ibaraki he pointed out was home to renowned companies such as Hino Motors, Komatsu, Hitachi Construction Machinery, Chugoku Lumber production and Fanuc manufacturers of industrial robots.  Ibaraki Prefecture he said was also rich in agriculture and marine products.

      The Ambassador reiterated Pakistan’s feelings of sympathy and support for the people of Ibaraki who had suffered the 2011 Earthquake and tsunami.  The Ambassador expressed his deep appreciation to the people and the Government of Japan for their unconditional assistance to build infrastructure in Pakistan and help during natural calamities.  He emphasized that education was central to development and stressed that technology transfer from Japan and human resource development in Pakistan must be encouraged strongly through cooperative ventures.  Ibraraki’s Science City was well placed to do just that.  The Ambassador requested the Governor to visit Pakistan and experience its cultural richness and warmth.
