Aoyama Gakuin University

      Tokyo: Ambassador Farukh Amil visited Aoyama Gakuin University where he met with Mr. Norio Hirasawa, Vice President and Professor Nobuto Hirasawa, Professor on Management, Director of International Exchange Centre.  The Ambassador urged the University authorities to explore the possibility of signing an Agreement with a Pakistani University in order to build formal ties to encourage the exchange of Faculty, researchers and graduate students.  This would greatly help in building mutual understanding and knowledge.  The proposal was welcomed by the Vice President.

      In the main auditorium the Ambassador addressed students of economics, international trade and business.  The presentation highlighted the depth and history of Pakistan-Japan relations, the business and economic potential of Pakistan, current Japanese investment and the importance of developmental assistance.  The Ambassador said that bilateral economic and trade relations have an important heritage.  The predecessor bank of Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi opened a branch in Karachi in 1925.  With nearly 200 million people Pakistan was an attractive market and important investment destination.
