Ambassador Farukh Amil meets Mr. Abid Haroon Jhara and his parents

      Mr. Haroon Abid Jhara, the nephew of renowned wrestler Mr. Zubair Jhara, along with his parents and family members met with Ambassador Farukh Amil.  Mr. Antonio Inoki, the internationally acclaimed Japanese sports icon, currently Member (Senator) of the Japanese Upper House (House of Councillors), has recruited the teenage Abid Jhara to be trained for a career in professional wrestling.  Abid Jhara will join a Japanese University in early 2014.    

      Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador highlighted the important role that sports played in the health of a nation.  He urged young people to engage in healthy activities characterized by all sports.  The Ambassador said that the teenage Abid Jhara was lucky since he came from a family of legendary wrestlers in Pakistan and that the world famous Mr. Antonio Inoki had chosen to take him under his wing.  The Ambassador noted that Japan was a sports-loving society and had recently won the Tokyo Olympics 2020.  Sports, the Ambassador stressed, built bridges between countries and contributed to positive interaction internationally.  Sports also gave the youth a sense of purpose, achievement and a positive outlet to channel their energies for healthy activities.
