Ambassador Farukh Amil calls on the Governor of Saitama Prefecture

      Ambassador Farukh Amil called upon the Governor of Saitama Prefecture, Mr. Kiyoshi UedaSaitama is the 5th largest Prefecture of Japan and is also home of many international companies such as Honda.  Matters of mutual interest including socio-cultural and politico-economic relations were discussed in their historical perspective.  The Governor informed that Saitama is the Prefecture in Japan where the largest number of Pakistanis reside.  The Governor outlined that his Prefecture was ready to offer advice and help to towns and cities in Pakistan such as in upgrading the water supply and sewerage system. He said that Pakistan and Japan enjoyed good relations for the past six decades.  He also referred to the meeting of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and Japan in New York recently, where both leaders reiterated their commitment to further strengthen bilateral ties.

      The Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Governor for his warmth, generosity and kindness.  He said that Pakistan and Japan were connected by an ancient link between Nara and Ghandhara Civilizations. The Ambassador stated bilateral relations were based on strong Asian values of mutual respect and dignity.  He expressed appreciation for the help and assistance given by Japan over the years in building the infrastructure in Pakistan, such as the Kohat Friendship Tunnel.  He said that Japan had always helped Pakistan during difficult times of natural calamities like the 2005 earthquake and the 2010 floods. 

      The Ambassador underlined the importance of the vibrant Pakistani community in Japan and highlighted that they were a valuable bridge between the two countries. On this occasion some prominent members from the Pakistani community living in Saitama were warmly welcomed by Governor of Saitama.
