Ambassador addresses Pakistan Business Seminar organized by JETRO

      Pakistan Business Seminar organized by JETRO drew participation of over 300 Japanese businessmen.  Ambassador Farukh Amil in his opening remarks said that the Seminar will create an awareness and opportunity among the Japanese businessmen to understand the business environment in Pakistan to enhance bilateral trade. Dilating upon Pakistan’s potential for economic development and investment, the Ambassador said that the youthful population along with huge natural resources, low labour costs and the Government’s business friendly policies and the good performance of the Stock Exchanges including KSE (which has risen by 40% during the last year) are the major attractions for foreign investors.

      The Ambassador invited the Japanese companies to invest in infrastructure development projects such as KCR, establishment of Japan Special Economic Zone (JSEZ) and the power sector.  The Ambassador stressed that the recent landmark democratic transition augured well for economic stability particularly for the pro-business new Government.

      On this occasion Executive Vice President, JETRO Mr. Daisuke Hiratsuka said that the Pakistan is the most profitable country for investment where Japanese investors can get more profits as compared to many other countries of the region.  Already many Japanese entrepreneurs dealing with Pakistan are engaged in profitable business.  Guest speaker Yoshimuki Honmura of ITOCHU Corporation Karachi discussing the business opportunities in Pakistan said the new Government’s business oriented strategy is capable for making Pakistan an attractive country for doing business in the next generation.

    The other speakers including  Mr. Kaoru Shiraishi, Chief Representative, JETRO Karachi office, the Mr. Kazuhiro Abe, General Manager, Mitsubishi Tokyo, UFJ Bank, Karachi, Mr. Keiichi Murakami, Vice Chairman, Indus Motor Company Ltd., focussed on the ease of doing business in Pakistan.
