Pakistan Ambassador HE Mr. Farukh Amil delivers a lecture at Waseda University

      Ambassador Farukh Amil (فاروق عامل) called on the President of the prestigious Waseda University Mr. Kaoru Kamata. There was an extensive discussion on the goal to exchange students and Faculty between the Waseda University and leading Universities in Pakistan. President Kamata pointed out that Waseda University was the second biggest University in Japan and had the largest number of foreign students. Waseda enjoys a world renowned alumni.

      The President of the University agreed with the Ambassador’s proposal that there would be positive results if formal mechanisms and agreements could be developed between Japanese and Pakistani Universities. President Kamata welcomed the Ambassador’s visit to the University underlining that it would help further this cause.

      Professor Keiko Sakurai, Dean Organization for Islamic Area Studies, informed that Waseda University was already working with Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). There had been an exchange of delegations between these two universities. The Ambassador reiterated his desire to establish formal links between the Pakistani Universities and the Universities in Japan. He said that he remained impressed by the Japanese triangle of ‘Academia-Innovation-Industry’ and wanted to emulate this in its true spirit in Pakistan. He stressed that strong nations like Japan were built upon on opportunity and education for all the youth. The Ambassador also said that Pakistan wanted to see a larger Japanese academic footprint in Pakistan.

      Later the Ambassador delivered a lecture to the students which included many from several countries, followed by a lively Q&A session.
