Lecture by the Ambassador Farukh Amil at the Rikkyo University

     

       Tokyo (June 28, 2013) – Ambassador Farukh Amil (فاروق عامل) gave a lecture at the Rikkyo University in the main auditorium which was drew a strong attendance.

       During the lecture, the Ambassador highlighted the current and historical perspectives of Pakistan – Japan bilateral relations. He said both the nations were connected from ancient times through the Ghandhara and Nara civilizational links and now by important trade and economic bonds. The presence of nearly 70 Japanese companies in Pakistan was a manifestation of this important relationship. The Ambassador expressed appreciation of Japan’s development assistance over the decades, 61 years of diplomatic friendship and support for democracy. The lecture was followed by a lengthy question-answer session, covering all the topics about Pakistan-Japan bilateral relations.

       Prior to the lecture the Ambassador met with Mr. Tomoya Yoshioka, President of the University and senior Faculty members. During the meeting the Ambassador stressed the importance of the academic exchanges between the universities in Japan and Pakistan through evolving a formal relationship so that the students in both countries could benefit.  President Rikkyo University warmly welcomed the proposal.
