Pakistani School Children visit Japanese Parliament (Diet)

Tokyo (June 28, 2013) – As part of the ongoing efforts to enhance education ties between Pakistan and Japan, a delegation of young school children aged 9 to 14 from Roots Millennium School paid a visit to Tokyo. The students came from different cities – Gujranwala, Peshawar, Mirpur, Abbottabad, Rawalpindi and Islamabad. They were accompanied by two senior Educationists Ms. Aliya Asim General Manager of Roots Millennium School and Ms. Deeba Principal of Roots Millennium School Hayatabad, KPK.

      During the 10 day visit, the school children had a specially organized tour of the Japanese Parliament (Diet) which included a meeting with the Chairman of the Pakistan-Japan Parliamentarians Friendship League (JPPFL) Mr. Seishiro Eto. Dressed in national clothes, waving Pakistani flags the school children were warmly greeted by the many Parliamentarians including the Speaker of the National Assembly during the tour of the Diet.

      The school-children had joint classes and presentations with the students of a Japanese school which was arranged in conjunction with the Mayor of the Minato (Central Tokyo).

      The Embassy also arranged a Cultural Educational day which included Ikebana and Origami preparations and the traditional tea ceremony. The children visited the important Meiji Temple, National Science Museum, MIRAIKAN (National Museum of Engineering Science and Innovation), the Asakusa Temple, TEPIA technology learning centre, took a trip on a boat along the Sumida River, visited the Nishi Kasai Aquarium, Disneyland and many other activities. During their trip the children used the Tokyo subway train system extensively.
