Public and Trade Diplomacy: Ambassador Visits leading Universities in Nagoya

                In continuation of Mission’s Trade and Public Diplomacy endeavours Ambassador Farukh Amil visited top most business University of Asia Nagoya University of Commerce and Business (NUBC) which currently has a number of collaborative research projects and partnership with universities across the world including Pakistan. He also visited and delivered a talk in Nagoya University of Foreign Studies (NUFS). 

   

              The Ambassador had a constructive interaction/meetings with executives, management and academics of both universities to discuss the opportunities of academic exchange and to further institutional linkages between Japan and Pakistan. Prior to the meeting the Ambassador also visited university facilities, graduate and undergraduate campuses - NUCB Nisshin and Marunouchi Campuses - including the language laboratories and library.


   

               He met with President NUBC Mr. Hiroshi Kurimoto, Vice President NUBC Mr.  Masahide Kurimoto, Managing Director NUBC Ms.  Kyoko Hayakawa, Dean of Communication NUBC Professor Takeshi Uemura, Vice President/ Dean of School of Contemporary International Studies NUFS Mr. Toshinori Tamai, Head of English Language Education Professor Tomoyasu Kimura and others.  Extending invitations to the President NUBC and Vice President NUFS   to visit Pakistan the Ambassador suggested them to attend Convocation Ceremonies in the universities to inspire students and increase collaboration with their Pakistani counterparts. In response to this President NUBC expressed his willingness to continue collaborative education and partnership with Pakistani universities.


   

             In NUCB the Ambassador also participated in the round table discussion arranged by Professor Jonathan Damiani  and had lively discussion on wide range of issues ranging from democracy, women rights, education, security, media and climate change etc. The students actively participated in the discussion and asked variety of important and thought provoking questions. The Ambassador shared the positive and important developments taking place in Pakistan such as strengthening democratic culture, improving law and order situation, Government’s effort to enhance the business environment, develop the infrastructure and attract foreign investment.  


   

              In NUFS the Ambassador gave a presentation focusing on the bilateral ties, Pakistan’s global Peace-keeping activities, Prime Minister Vision of “Peaceful Neighbourhood” and Regional integration,  the positive developments taking place in the fields of business, infrastructure, investment, democracy and women’s’ empowerment.  The presentation was followed a lively question-answer session. 


   

                 Separately the Ambassador also met with Pakistani students who are pursuing their graduate-level research and studies especially in business in NUBC. He encouraged them to harness the best education Japan provided and be part of human resource development of Pakistan upon their return.
