Press Release - Ambassador's visit to NHK

Tokyo (April 25, 2013) – Ambassador Farukh Amil (فاروق عامل) visited NHK, the largest public sector broadcasting/telecasting network in Japan and one with a global service in English, Urdu and many other languages. He held a meeting with the President Mr. Masayuki Matsumoto and his senior team. 

President NHK offered condolences for the victims of the recent earthquake at the Pakistan-Iran border. He also appreciated the help and assistance provided by the Government of Pakistan and the Pakistani expatriate community in Japan during Great East Japan Earthquake 2011. The President also gave a detailed briefing about the NHK network and its operations.

The Ambassador underlined the importance of media in today’s life. He said that media in Pakistan was vibrant, independent and playing a pivotal role in the society. On this occasion, the Ambassador proposed exchange of programes such as music, dramas between NHK and PTV in order develop cultural ties and understanding.
