Visit of SCCI Delegation to Osaka

Osaka: A delegation of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry visited Osaka to explore trade opportunities in the western Japan. The 11-member delegation representing the manufacturers-cum-exporters of sports goods, sportswear, surgical and dental instruments sectors, succeeded in securing export orders from Japanese buyers in Osaka.


In a dinner meeting, while welcoming the delegates to Osaka, Mr. Muhammad Naseer, Commercial Counsellor, highlighted the potential of Japanese market for the import of the Sports Goods and the Surgical Instruments from Pakistan. He also explained the buying pattern of the Japanese buyers. He insisted for the consistent follow up and frequent visits to the Japanese market for doing business in Japan. Mr. Qaiser Baig, leader of the delegation, appreciated the Consulate for facilitation and coordination in the organization of the visit of the delegates. He said that the close liaison of the Consulate with the Japanese business community would be very helpful in enhancing trade share of Pakistan in the 3rd largest economy of the world.


A full day B2B networking session was organized in the Consulate of Pakistan, Osaka. Japanese companies appreciated the quality of the products from Sialkot and some of them place spot export orders while the others express their keen interest in continuing business negotiations.

Ambassador Farukh Amil visited Mizuno Corporation - a leading Japanese sports goods company during his visit to Osaka in June 2015.  As a follow up of this visit Mizuno Corporation sent the buying representatives from three departments including marshal arts, boxing & baseball gloves and sports wears. They had a very productive business meeting sessions in the Consulate.


On the sideline of B2B networking session a Seminar was organized to apprise the Japanese companies about the trade & investment opportunities in Pakistan. Representatives from 29 Japanese companies attended the seminar. Mr. Muhammad Naseer, Commercial Counsellor highlighted the reasons why Pakistan was a potential sourcing market for Japanese entrepreneurs. He underlined the importance of its geostrategic location, availability of skilled labour force, and raw material and developed industrial clusters. He also explained the competitive advantages of Pakistani textile, food, Leather, surgical Instruments and sports goods sectors.


Mr. Qaiser Baig, while speaking on behalf of the SCCI informed about the export sectorial development and the infrastructure development in Sialkot. He also spoke about the international brands, which were already procuring different products from Sialkot. He invited the participants to visit Sialkot to see the industrial development.


Mr. Hideaki Shimizu, JICA Advisor to TDAP, shared the experience of some leading Japanese companies, which are doing business in Pakistan. He advised the participants to visit Pakistan to explore opportunities in trade & investment.


A working lunch was also arranged in the Consulate during the B2B networking meetings.
