Pakistan Independence Day Celebrations 14 August 2015


Tokyo:  14th August Independence Day was celebrated in many ways by the Pakistan Embassy.


    

After the flag hoisting ceremony Ambassador Farukh Amil read the messages of the President and the Prime Minister.  Subsequently, the Ambassador elaborated that the Pakistani community abroad was a strong pillar of support for Pakistan and that their next generation would serve as a valuable bridge between Japan and Pakistan. 


He urged that the community should focus on education and in particular with their children maintain and strengthen awareness of Pakistan, its heritage and its creation particularly on Independence Day.  The Ambassador recalled the wisdom of the father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, one of the greatest democrats of the Twentieth century and also the countless others who had fought for independence and human dignity for over a hundred years. 


The Calligraphy Exhibition, which was inaugurated by Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado as part of the independence week celebrations, served as a perfect backdrop to mark this important day.  To celebrate, a cake was cut by Pakistani children.  

Veteran politician, former Defence Minister and former Chief Minister of Sindh Mr. Ghaus Ali Shah visited the Embassy on Independence Day after the Jumma prayers.  


In the evening the Ambassador and Consular Officer Mr. Adnan Javed travelled to Toyama Prefecture (900 Kilometre round trip) to celebrate Independence Day with the Pakistani community.  



Addressing the request of the Pakistani community, under a new initiative, the Ambassador underlined the importance of celebrating Independence Day with Pakistani citizens in other cities, since 80% of them reside outside the Tokyo Metropolitan area.
