Pakistan Independence Day Celebrations – 14th August 2014


Tokyo:  Independence Day was observed with zeal and fervour drawing a large presence of Pakistani citizens including women and children.  After the flag-hoisting ceremony the Ambassador read the messages of the President and the Prime Minister.  Prominent members of the Community highlighted the importance of the creation and ideology of Pakistan. Speakers paid tributes to the heroes of the Pakistan Movement. 


Underscoring the importance of the messages of the President and Prime Minister, the Ambassador reiterated that Pakistan Day come about as a consequence of a democratic yearning and its strength, as envisioned by the Founding Fathers, lay in constitutionalism, the rule of law and a solid democracy.  The Ambassador stated that the creation of Pakistan should not be taken for granted.  The dear homeland had come about after decades of sacrifices, determination and the wisdom of earlier generations.  He said it was important not to forget the Shuhadaa, both past and present and, on this important day, reflect upon the multitude of sacrifices made by our forefathers both known and unknown.  He noted that the Pakistani communities abroad were fired with nationalistic feelings.  Their love and support remained crucial for their brethren back in the homeland.
