Meeting with Yamaha Motor Company

 

After successful launch of first motorcycle by Yamaha Motor Pakistan (YMPK) on April 27 2015, Executives of Yamaha Motor Company Japan called on the Ambassador. They informed that the production facility of YMPK had started with 200 employees, with a first year production forecast of 30,000 units which Yamaha Pakistan hopes to expand to 400,000 units by the end of 2020. They shared that the commencement of new plant marks the re-entry of Yamaha motorcycles in Pakistan and Yamaha Pakistan is hopeful to meet the growing demand of two-wheelers industry in Pakistan, which has a strong current demand at 1.65 million units per year and is expected to grow to 3.0 million units by 2020. In the first phase, Yamaha Pakistan has launched YBR125 motorcycle, which is available across the country through 140 dedicated dealerships of YMPK. They thanked the Ambassador and his team for their continuous support.

      The Ambassador congratulated the President and the whole team of Yamaha Motor Company on the successful launch event and the start of production from the newly built facility in Karachi. He underlined that Pakistan is a market of nearly 200 million people with a youthful population that preferred Japanese products because of their good quality standards.  He urged Yamaha Motors that it should not only focus on the domestic market but also plan for exporting Pakistan-made products to neighbouring Central Asian, Middle East and African countries.  He also requested for training and internships in Japan for young Pakistani engineers and technical staff.
