Meeting with Mayor of Nagoya Mr. Takashi Kawamura


Ambassador Farukh Amil (فاروق عامل) called on the popular Mayor of Nagoya Mr. Takashi Kawamura, an experienced politician and former Member of the Diet. 

The Ambassador thanked the Mayor for his support in the first ever Trade Seminar to be held in Nagoya.  The Mayor expressed deep interest in learning more about Pakistan.  The Ambassador highlighted that Pakistani cities could learn from Nagoya’s expertise in urban and transportation planning.  The Ambassador noted that an efficient public transport system provided the spine for any successful city, such as Nagoya. 

Mayor Kawamura appreciated the efforts of the Mission to organize Pakistan Trade Seminar that would help to create awareness about Pakistan.  He informed that Nagoya is the centre of “Greater Nagoya”, which earns nearly 70% of Japan’s trade surplus.  He said that Nagoya was the hub of automotive industries with headquarters of leading companies such as Toyota, Denso, Asin Seki Co, R & D Center of Mitsubishi.  He also shared positive memories of “World Expo 2005” held in Nagoya in which Pakistan had a country pavilion.  He appreciated the interest of the Ambassador in visiting Japanese Universities and agreed that knowledge sharing between respective youth would lead to a strong relationship between the two countries in future.   Prospects of people-to-people exchange in various sectors were also discussed to be further explored mutually.  Mayor Kawamura promised to extend all possible support for future initiatives of the Mission to bring the two friendly nations more closer.
