Lecture at Rikkyo University

Tokyo:   Ambassador Farukh Amil (فاروق عامل) delivered a lecture to senior students at Rikkyo University organized by Professor Sumiko Iwao. The senior students comprised of senior bankers, professors, scientists, academics and executives from private sector companies.  Highlighting Pakistan-Japan relations in their socio-cultural, politico-economic and historical perspective, he dilated upon Pakistan’s potential in agriculture, trade and its abundant human and natural resources.  He presented a realistic picture of Pakistan as a vibrant country with a progressive vision in line with the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam, including where women participated in every sphere of life ranging from teaching, medicine, business, politics and legal fields to fighter pilots.  Pakistan was an attractive and profitable investment destination, where along with other investors, the Japanese automobile industry (Toyota, Honda and Suzuki) remained profitable.  He emphasized the need to grow the volume of bilateral trade from US$ 2.5 billion to a higher level as it was not commensurate with the true potential of the two countries.  Following the lecture there was a lively question-answer session.
