Embassy Participates in Minato World Carnival Festival

The Embassy of Pakistan, in collaboration with Minato Ward, Tourism Bureau (JTB) and Fuji TV, participated in ‘Minato World Carnival International Festival’, during February 19-20, 2016, welcoming 150 Japanese nationals, in three equal groups of 50 each, as part of “Embassy Stamp Rally”, the first leg of the cited Event.

Three year-old Sara, accompanied with her mother, was among the 50 participants of the first group whose festival passports were stamped upon arrival with goodwill visa stamp bearing the image of Ibex (Markhor), which is Pakistan’s national animal. The passport as well as the stamp were arranged in collaboration with Minato Ward.

The guests were accorded a warm welcome and briefed on genesis of bilateral friendship and cooperation, Prime Minister’s vision for “Peaceful Neighborhood”, parliamentary and people to people exchanges as well as contributions by Pakistani community across Japan, underlining their assistance during Tsunami Earthquake.

The visitors expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s leading contributions to United Nation’s Peace Keeping Operations and commitment to global peace and security.

Embassy was pleased to learn that all participants themselves chose Pakistan as their destination. They particularly appreciated the fact children of Pakistani diplomats were enrolled in Japanese public schools and that both Third Secretaries of the Mission had received training in Japanese language.

World Carnival will subsequently showcase international cuisines at Shiba Garden (March 4-5, 2016) in which the Embassy shall showcase authentic, grilled, halal  Pakistani Bar-B-Que, in collaboration with a local Pakistani Restaurant.

This is Embassy’s first participation in the Minato World Carnival. Therefore, to mark the occasion, the Embassy also gifted made-in-Pakistan ladies woolen shawls to the organisers who will subsequently gift the item to raffle winners.

Mr. Ali Javed hosted the first group on February 19 whereas the Third Secretaries Mr. Gul Qaiser and Adnan Javed received the other two groups the following day. Minato City Fuji TV recorded a TV interview with the Deputy Chief of the Mission to be aired on local TV during early March 2016.
