Deputy Chief of Mission calls on H. E. Yukihisa Fujita, Member Upper House and DG (Int’l Department), Democratic Party of Japan

Earlier today, the Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. Ali Javed called on H.E. Yukihisa Fujita, Honorable member House of Councillors of Japan (Upper House) and Director General International Department, Democratic Party of Japan.

The Deputy Chief of Mission gave a briefing on status of bilateral relations, institutional mechanisms and think-tank linkages as well as interaction between the two countries' highest political leaderships. Efforts to modernize the spectrum of bilateral cooperation, reflective of aspirations of both nations were also highlighted.

 

 H.E. Mr. Fujita appreciated the status of bilateral relations especially the inter-Parliamentary exchanges. He recalled fond memories from a series of visits to Pakistan including setting up of DPJ Field Office in Peshawar in 2001 to assist Refugees and dislocated populations as a consequence of war in Afghanistan and relief efforts in Pakistan following 2005 earthquake especially in Balakot area.

 

 H.E. Mr. Fujita acknowledged Pakistan's leading contributions to UN Peacekeeping Operations and gave a briefing on efforts of DPJ in the National Diet (Parliament) and extended an invitation to the Embassy to participate in DPJ public briefings as a means to maintain regular contact between the two sides.

 

 During the meeting that lasted an hour, the two sides praised the historically friendly and conflict-free disposition of bilateral relations as well as the trajectory in inter-parliamentary exchanges as being the highest forum of people-to-people exchanges.
