Community Meeting

Tokyo:  On December 7, 2014, the Ambassador of Pakistan convened a general community meeting at the Embassy. Over 50 persons from the Pakistani community participated, some alongwith their children.

Ambassador Farukh Amil (فاروق عامل) welcomed the community and called upon them to generously contribute to the Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund-2014 to help those effected by flash floods for which special accounts have been established in Tokyo and Osaka branches of National Bank of Pakistan to receive contributions.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador appreciated the effort by all shades of community in further the positive image of Pakistan and called upon the community to volunteer in the formation of committees on Sports, Business & Trade to collaborate with the Embassy in organizing Sporting Events and assisting in visiting trade delegations as well as, Business & Investment Seminar. On the occasion, Cricket Committee was established which will further undertake to organize matches with Japanese as well as other countries cricket clubs.

Ambassador also called upon the community to wholeheartedly participate in the debate on the need for establishing a school or community centres for the purpose of introducing our children, especially those from mixed heritage, to the cultural, religious and historical aspects of Pakistan. In this regard, feedback from areas of highest community presence was requested.

Ambassador also briefed the community on a series of trade & business initiatives as well as the overall trajectory of bilateral relations. Community members pledged their support to the Mission in its efforts.
