Commemoration of 3rd Anniversary of East Japan Great Earthquake 2011

      Tokyo: An event was organized in commemoration of 3rd Anniversary of East Japan Great Earthquake 2011 on Monday at Nippon Press Club by Pakistanis living in Japan.  A considerable number of Japanese and Pakistanis attended. 

      On this occasion Ambassador Farukh Amil (فاروق عامل) in his opening remarks, reiterated deep sorrow and grief over the loss of precious lives and property as a result of earthquake and Tsunami.  He said that people and Government of Pakistan always stood with their Japanese friends in the hour of distress and difficulty.  He expressed his deep appreciation to the people and Government of Japan for their unconditional help and assistance during the difficult hours of natural calamities such as earthquakes and floods in Pakistan.  He prayed for the departed souls.  Expressing appreciation for the commitment of the organizers of the event, the Ambassador said the spirit of mutual cooperation would be further strengthened. 

      On this occasion, Ms. Keiko Maki and Mr. Akiyuki Kamiya presented a report based on volunteer activity at the earthquake stricken areas.  They also read aloud the poetry in remembrance of the victims of the earthquake and tsunami.  Many other Pakistanis citizens based in Japan also presented the relief activities in the presentation.  Silent prayer was offered at the end of the ceremony.
