Book Launching Ceremony of Japanese Translation of Zarb-e-Kaleem

Tokyo (23-02-2015):  A book launching ceremony of Japanese translation of Allama Iqbal’s work titled “Zarb-e-Kaleem” by Professor Hiroji Kataoka was held here Sunday.  Professor Kataoka is retired from Daito Bunka University, Tokyo.  He already translated two other works of Allama Iqbal, namely; “Bang-e-Dara and “Bal-e-Jibreel”.  Many Japanese Professors and academia associated with Urdu participated in the Event which reflected a keen interest in Allama Iqbal.

Speaking on the occasion, Press Counsellor Dr. Rafique Ahmed Soomro representing the Embassy of Pakistan deeply appreciated Professor Katoka’s services, and said that the translation of “Kulliyat-e-Iqbal” would go a long way in bringing the two great cultures of Asia closer and the bonds of friendship would be further strengthened.  He thanked Mohammad Zubair of the Urdu Literary Circle in Japan for holding this gathering which provided an opportunity to many Japanese to know about Pakistan and great Poet of the East.

Mohammad Zubair introducing the book, informed that Professor Kataoka was working on the translation of “Armaghan-e-Hijaaz”.  These are indeed significant contributions to promoting Urdu language as well as creating awareness on the internationally acknowledged works of Allama Iqbal.

Professor Katoka has been awarded Nishan-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan in acknowledgement for his praiseworthy contributions to promote Urdu language and culture in Japan.  An annual Urdu Mushaa’era has been regularly held at Daito Bunka University under the patronage of Professor Katoka.
