Ambassador visits the Oita Mega-Solar Plant

Ambassador Farukh Amil (فاروق عامل) visited the Oita Mega-Solar Plant in Oita Prefecture, the largest in Japan. As part of the Government's policy to find urgent solutions for the energy crisis the field visit was coordinated with global alternative energy giant, Marubeni Corporation. The Ambassador toured the one kilometer square 82 MW facility and held discussions with Senior Officials on site to explore possibilities for solar power plants in Pakistan.

Marubeni favours a dispersed model of several 1 MW plants that can be constructed quickly, providing rapid local solutions for energy needs. The decentralized approach is said to reduce transmission losses and provide the fastest relief for businesses and citizens in the adjacent communities.
