Ambassador meets President JGC Corporation in Yokohama

            Ambassador Farukh Amil along with the Commercial Counsellor called on President JGC Corporation Mr. Koichi Kawana and other senior officers of JGC. In the   meeting he underlined the business-oriented Government’s focus on strengthening the economy and attracting investment. He explained that the top priority for the Government was energy security and infrastructure development, with the aim to increase the efficiency of the existing power plants and set up new power plants based on coal, hydel and civil nuclear technology. The Ambassador appreciated that JGC was training engineers from Pakistan, in particular to learn the Japanese corporate management culture and skills. The Ambassador reiterated that human resource development was critical for any growing economy. He requested President JGC to participate in the upcoming Joint Government to Business Dialogue planned for  2015.

            Mr. Kawana welcomed the Ambassador and his trade team and expressed his keen interest in Pakistan. He appreciated for the economic reforms undertaken by the Prime Minister, which had given greater confidence to international community to engage with Pakistan in the economic field. He highlighted the fact that JGC corporation had been working for many years with Pakistan including in the development of many infrastructure and oil & gas development projects.  He assured JGC's support for the PJBF delegation's visit to Tokyo in January 2015 and the Joint Government Business Dialogue in Islamabad.
