During his visit to Kansai Region, Ambassador Farukh Amil (فاروق عامل) called on the Director General of NHK in Kobe Mr. Makiyama Atsushi to have an interaction with the local media and to sensitize them about the efforts being made in bilateral relations, especially trade and investment. He highlighted the importance of exchange of people and role of media to publicize the strong historical connections between Pakistan and Japan and the potential for the future. Reiterating the proposal made to President NHK earlier, the Ambassador proposed that NHK may consider broadcasting Pakistani programmes in Japanese language.
Director General NHK Kobe promised to give greater media attention to Pakistan-related events held in Kansai area. He agreed with the Ambassador on the role of media as a critical medium to educate the younger generations about the historical and cultural linkages between the two nations. During the visit the Ambassador handed over a copy of ISHQ, a compilation of reading material and CDs regarding Pakistan’s Sufi heritage.
