Ambassador meets with the delegation of farmers from Shinjo Village, Okayama Prefecture

Tokyo:  A delegation of farmers from Shinjo Village, Okayama Prefecture held a meeting with Ambassador Farukh Amil (فاروق عامل).  The delegation was a part of AMDA (Association of Medical Doctors of Asia). AMDA sent their doctors to Pakistan during 2010 floods to provide medical assistance to the flood victims. 

The delegation brought samples of organic rice and food packets prepared from the fresh crop of the year.  Shinjo Village cultivates organic rice using rice duck farming in conjunction with AMDA Food Programme.  Mr. Isoda, head of the delegation informed the Ambassador that they had selected Thatta in Sindh as a partner in developing organic rice in Pakistan. From 2015 they will expect to train Pakistanis in Japan who upon their return will impart their skills especially to the women folk in the agricultural sector. 


The Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the people and the Government of Japan for unconditional help and assistance including 2005 Earthquake and 2010 Floods.  The Ambassador appreciated the marvelous work performed by AMDA and welcomed more cooperation in all fields including the agriculture.  He informed the delegation that Pakistan is one of the largest rice producers in the world and its Basmati rice is a world-known brand for its deliciousness and aroma.  He expressed gratitude to AMDA for selecting Pakistan as a partner in training farmers from developing countries including Pakistan, particularly in the context of organic process that would ultimately help keep the environment clean.
