3rd Anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake

      Tokyo: Ambassador Farukh Amil (فاروق عامل) participated in a solemn Memorial Ceremony to commemorate 3rd Anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake at the National Theatre.  The ceremony included speeches by His Majesty the Emperor, the Honourable Prime Minister, Speaker of the House of Representatives, President of the House of Councilors and Chief Justice of Supreme Court.  Alongwith all the other leading dignitaries, Heads of Political Parties and the Diplomatic Core, the Ambassador laid a remembrance flower.

      The Deputy Chief of Mission participated in a separate ceremony held in Fukushima which started with live coverage from the Tokyo Ceremony.  It was followed by offering condolence by the Government and officers of Fukushima Prefecture to commemorate the souls of those lost in the disaster.  Prayers were also offered for those who are still missing.

     Subsequently Members from both Houses of the Diet were requested to offer their prayers and lay a flower in the memory of the deceased.  Following the Diet Members, eight Deputy Chief of Missions were invited for the same including the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Pakistan.  Following the ceremony the Deputy Chief of Mission held a brief meeting with the Governor to offer condolences for the deceased and encouragement on the remarkable recovery that Fukushima city has achieved.
