“Paper Miracles” Exhibition

Tokyo:  An Exhibition by “Paper Miracles” was held at local Art Gallery in Tokyo.  The creation of social entrepreneur Ms. Elli Takagaki is a story of resilience and hope that has already won much praise in Pakistan.  Waste paper has been transformed into exquisite beads and jewelry, the sale of which is meant to assist those handicapped by the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan helping them to earn an honourable income.  Ms. Takagaki’s venture has been embraced because it moves beyond simply providing aid and into the realm of empowerment through art and creativity.

Ambassador Farukh Amil (فاروق عامل) during his visit to the gallery deeply appreciated the effort to promote the vibrant art and culture of Pakistan through such a unique and artistic venture.  Highlighting the sophistication of Japan he said that the elegant jewellery on display would have a deep resonance with Japanese society.  He also emphasized that whilst the artists were not formally trained they were producing world-class products befitting for a cosmopolitan city such as Tokyo which is well-known for its brilliant heritage of design.
