Meeting with Komeito Party Leader Mr. Natsuo Yamaguchi

Ambassador Farukh Amil (فاروق عامل) called on Komeito Party Leader Honourable Mr. Natsuo Yamaguchi along with diplomatic team.  The Ambassador congratulated Komeito on its recent success in the Upper House elections and reiterated the importance of friendly relations best expressed through people-to-people contact and between Parliamentarians. 

The Party Leader Yamaguchi-San accompanied by the Honourable Isamu Ueda, Member of House of Representatives and Chair of Komeito Party’s International Committee warmly welcomed the Ambassador.  Highlighting the heritage of friendship between Pakistan and Japan he fondly recalled the visit of former Leader of Komeito Mr. Akihiro Ohta to Pakistan.  Agreeing with the Ambassador that the visits by respective Parliamentarians were important to build bridges of peace and understanding within the democratic framework Yamaguchi-San underlined the great importance of people-to-people contact at all levels in society that would deepen cooperation and partnership.


The Ambassador congratulated Japan on its excellent performance at Rio Olympics adding that Pakistan looked forward to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics especially participating in sports where it had won gold medals in previous games.  Agreeing that the sports, education and culture were important platforms for the two countries to engage in, Yamaguchi-San said that these linkages would further strengthen bilateral ties.  Yamaguchi-San stated that every Japanese student learnt about the history of Pakistan through Mohenjodaro and reflected warmly on the heritage of Gandhara and Harappa Civilizations.  The Ambassador underlined that these ancient links provided an illustrious connection between Pakistan and Japan.  He stated that people in Pakistan remained both curious and fascinated with Japan and it was heart-warming to see a Pakistani Chef reached the final of an international competition in the Sushi World Cup.


The Ambassador briefed Yamaguchi-San on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s vision of ‘Peaceful Neighbourhood’ and gave a comprehensive briefing on the regional situation and Pakistan’s quest for peace and harmony through economic development.  He underlined the importance of upcoming SAARC Summit in Islamabad in November as an excellent platform to foster South Asian amity.  Yamaguchi-San welcomed strengthening Japan-Pakistan friendship and advocated policies to promote peace across Asia.
