Public Diplomacy: Embassy participates in ALFS - Asia-Pacific Festival Charity Bazaar-2016

In continuation of Mission’s Public Diplomacy efforts the Embassy participated in the Annual Asia Pacific Festival and Charity Bazaar 2016 organized by the Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society (ALFS) attended by thousands.


    

The Embassy set up  “Pakistan Stall”  exhibiting “Made in Pakistan” products  including shawls, Sindhi Ajrak, carpets, textile items (towels, T-Shirts, Jackets etc.) wooden brass inlaid and marble artifacts to project the soft/ positive image of Pakistan, promote Pakistani products and bring the people of Japan and Pakistan closer. A food stall was also established serving traditional cuisine that was widely appreciated by hundreds of visitors who stood in queues to taste the Pakistani food throughout the day. The purpose of the Bazaar was to raise funds for welfare and disaster relief in Asian and Pacific Countries. This year 26 different Asian and Pacific countries participated in the Bazaar.


    

Her Imperial Highness Princess Hitachi graced the event as Chief Guest who was received by the Ambassador at Pakistan Stall. The Princess showed deep interest in the Pakistani products and bought a Pakistani neck-tie and hand-made metal and stone artifact. First Lady of Japan Madame Akie Abe also visited Pakistan stall appreciating the quality of Pakistani textile products bought a hooded sweat-shirt for the Honourable Prime Minister.  


    

Whilst commending the efforts and hard work of ALFS for arranging the successful event Ambassador Farukh Amil stated such events -having worthy goals - were very important in rendering public welfare in the Asia and Pacific countries. He added that Pakistani stalls were organized to familiarize our Japanese friends with the diversity and colours of the rich Pakistani culture by presenting the food delicacies and ‘Made in Pakistan’ products. He reiterated that Pakistan Embassy would continue to work closely with ALFS for such noble causes.
