PRIME MINISTER MUHAMMAD NAWAZ SHARIF MEETS WITH JAPANESE PRIME MINISTER SHINZO ABE IN NEW YORK ON SEPTEMBER 26, 2013

    Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif met with the Prime Minister of Japan H.E. Shinzo Abe today (26 September 2013) in New York on the sidelines of UN General Assembly. The Prime Minister stated that Pakistan accorded high priority to its relations with Japan and appreciated the strong and consistent support by Japan to Pakistan in areas of trade, economic cooperation and investment. He urged further strengthening of bilateral economic ties. The Japanese Prime Minister described Pakistan as a very important country and noted with appreciation that the primary focus of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s government was on economic revival with high priority on energy sector. He assured that these priorities would be given due consideration while formulating Japan’s approach to further strengthening its relations with Pakistan. The Japanese Prime Minister also commended Prime Minister’s peace initiatives with India and Afghanistan. The Prime Minister extended an invitation to the Japanese Prime Minister to visit Pakistan. The Japanese Prime Minister accepted the invitation.
