Memorandum of Understanding Between PIDE & GRIPS

(18-01-2017):Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation and Exchanges was renewed between Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) and National Graduate Institute of Policy Studies (GRIPS) Japan, at the ceremony hosted on GRIPS. The MoU has been concluded in January 2014.

Ambassador Farukh Amil underscored that GRIPS was one of the premier academic and research institutions in Japan. He further highlighted that MoUs  provided a framework for institutional linkages that not only advanced academic exchanges and research but also enhance people-to-people contact. He also lauded GRIPS for its continued cooperation with counterparts in Pakistan.  

Professor Takashi Shiraishi, President GRIPS,  recalled Professor Sonobe's visit to Pakistan and expressed his satisfaction over the performance of Pakistani researchers at the institution. Furthermore, President indicated that GRIPS, in collaboration with JICA and faculty members, is also considering  the creation of more Doctoral fellowships for Pakistani researchers. Professor Yokomichi and Professor Sonobe from GRIPS faculty  were also present.​

The Ambassador welcomed the positive development to receive more researchers from Pakistan adding that there could be several areas of cooperation ranging from Economic to Maritime Security as well as Space Technology. He reiterated the invitation to President GRIPS to visit Pakistan.

The Event was also witnessed by Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr. Beg,  and Third Secretaries Mr. Sarwani and Mr. Javaid from the Embassy and Ms. Sekine from GRIPS.
