Memorandum of Understanding Between NSPP & GRIPS

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation and Exchanges was finalized between National School of Public Policy (NSPP) Pakistan and National Graduate Institute of Policy Studies (GRIPS) Japan, at ceremony hosted on GRIPS premises earlier today. The MoU takes immediate effect.

Mr. Ali Javed, Chargé d' Affaires a.i., of the Embassy of Pakistan presented the final copy of the document signed by Mr. Ismail Qureshi, Rector NSPP to Professor Yokomichi, Vice President GRIPS.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Javed lauded GRIPS for its continued cooperation with counterparts in Pakistan. He recalled the earlier MoU between GRIPS and Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) concluded in January 2014, proposed by visiting Minister for Planning Development & Reforms when he met Professor Takashi Shiraishi, President GRIPS, a month before.

Mr. Javed observed that linkages between the leading think tanks and training institutes would not only advance academic exchanges and research but also further people to people contacts.

Professor Yokomichi praised the existing level of trust and cooperation between GRIPS and the Embassy of Pakistan and welcomed the MoU with NSPP being the highest seat of learning for bureaucrats in Pakistan.

The proposal to formalize relations between NSPP and GRIPS was initiated by Professor Khawaja, DEAN, National Institute of Public Policy (NSPP) when he met with Professor Yokomichi in Tokyo in May 2015.

The Event was coordinated between Third Secretaries Qaiser and Javaid from the Embassy and Ms. Sekine and Mr. Goto, from Department of International Liaison GRIPS. Pakistani researchers/students currently enrolled at GRIPS as well as Pakistani community members running Urdu language print and electronic media witnessed the ceremony.
