Meeting with senior officials of MLIT at Haneda Airport

Tokyo (02-03-2016):  The Ambassador participated at an event organized by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) at Tokyo International – Haneda Airport.  He interacted with the Assistant Vice Minister of International Aviation MLIT Mr. Hisataka Hiragochi, senior officials of MLIT and Executives from the private sector who manage the state-of-the-art international terminal.   Following a tour of the airport including the engineering wonder the D-runway built on a bridge directly into the airport.  


2.         The Ambassador outlined the possibilities of technology transfer and private sector participation in the numerous infrastructure projects that are being undertaken in Pakistan as the economy grows and the ambitious development plans of the Government are being realized.  In particular he highlighted the strong entrepreneurial skills of the Pakistani private sector such as building the world’s first private sector financed airport in Sialkot. 

3.         The Ambassador strongly recommended that aviation sector between the two countries must grow in order to strengthen business ties connectivity, adding that the Bilateral Air Services Agreement needed to be revisited and upgraded to bring it in line with the 21st Century opportunities.  The Ambassador was later interviewed by Japanese national television network NHK.
