Meeting with JETRO team at Kansai

Ambassador Farukh Amil (فاروق عامل) called on the JETRO headquarters in Kansai along with new Consul/Commercial Counsellor Mr. Khalid Jamil on 15 August 2016.  The Ambassador highlighted the long-standing business relations between Pakistan and Japan dating back to 1948 and in recent years the robust participation of the Japanese businessmen in the various Expos in Pakistan.  The 81 Japanese corporations operating in Pakistan continued to do well.  

The Ambassador reiterated the appreciation for JETRO’s positive outlook and for providing of training opportunities along with guiding business exchanges.  Ms. Hojo of JETRO, Osaka in welcoming the Ambassador highlighted that the recent JETRO survey of 4,000 Japanese companies had found that Pakistan was one of the most profitable destinations for Japanese investors.  The Ambassador highlighted that existing Japanese companies in Pakistan were reporting record profits and sales, particularly in the automotive industries.  Ms. Hojo suggested that Pakistani businessmen should also consider in investing in Japan.  The Ambassador said that many Pakistani businessmen would definitely be interested in exploring investment and trade opportunities in Japan and hoped that visa procedures would enable such potential investors/businessmen.   

The JETRO team stressed the importance of Kansai region which was the hub of Japanese SMEs.  The SMEs would provide the most effective way to increase bilateral trade.  The Ambassador fully agreed saying that for an emerging economy like Pakistan with currently dynamic performance as highlighted by the international commentators, the SME model was perfect for Pakistan.

JETRO Kansai said they looked forward to the visits of the trade delegations from Pakistan that are expected to visit Kansai soon.
