Friendly Cricket Match between Ambassador-Eleven and Japan-Eleven

Organized by the esteemed Pakistani Community in Japan, a friendly cricket match between Ambassador-Eleven and Japan-Eleven was held on 7 August 2016 at Sano International Cricket Stadium.  The Japan-Eleven won the match in a thrilling close game.

The Ambassador, the Officers of the Embassy and the Pakistani community watched the match along with their families.  The Ambassador praised the spirit of sportsmanship displayed by the players and supporters from both sides. He congratulated the Japanese team for their best performance.

It may be recalled that a cricket match was organized in 2012 which led the Sano School sports field to be declared as permanent cricket ground with the goal to make Sano City the centre of international cricket in Japan.

The Deputy Mayor of Sano City Mr. Hisashi Iizuka welcomed the enthusiasm and dedication of the Pakistani community and the players.  He reaffirmed his support for the promotion of cricket in Japan especially by the Pakistani Community.

The Ambassador reiterated the importance of sports in bringing the communities closer together and further strengthening the bonds of friendship through sports diplomacy and people to people contact.  He also praised the role of the Australian coach and umpires.

Subsequently, addressing the Pakistani Community directly the Ambassador reiterated Pakistan’s continuous moral and diplomatic support for the rights of Kashmiris who were experiencing renewed brutality in IOK including the blatant disregard of human rights and human decency with the use of pellet bullets that had blinded the young, the old and the innocent.  The Ambassador stressed the continuing importance of the UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir and underscored Pakistan’s commitment in the role and rule of International Law, especially on human rights.
