Deputy Chief of Mission witnesses Launch of “Democratic Party”

Mr. Ali. Javed, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM), accompanied with Mr. Adnan Javaid, Third Secretary, participated in a Convention for the launch of "Democratic Party" at a local Hotel in Tokyo, on 27 March, 2016.


The occasion witnessed merger of largest and second largest opposition parties in Japan i.e., former Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) and Japan Innovation Party (JIP), respectively. During the proceedings, observed by a large gathering of political activists, civil society, intellectuals, media and diplomatic corps, Mr. Otsuya Okada, leader of former DPJ was unanimously elected to lead the newly established Democratic Party.

Upon arrival at the venue, the DCM was extended a warm welcome by Hon’ble Yukihisa Fujita, Member Upper House who is also Director General International Department, of DPJ.

It is recalled that on July 15, 2015, Mr. Ali Javed had called on Hon’ble Mr. Fujita at the National Parliament and established formal linkages between the Embassy of Pakistan and DPJ.

Both sides expressed satisfaction on existing bonds of friendship and agreed to maintain cooperation and exchanges.
